The Beginning
A young and enterprising engineering graduate, Mr. Athappa Manickam, founded MAK Controls in 1973 with an initial investment of Rs. 25,000. In the 1990s, when the Indian aviation industry recorded significant growth as a result of economic liberalization, MAK took the initiative to boldly diversify from conventional electrical and mechanical products into the development and manufacture of aircraft ground support equipment. The implementation of India’s Open Sky Policy further boosted the company’s growth.
